ECSU Alumni to Honor Octogenarian Members

August 18, 2006 (The Elizabeth City State University (ECSU) National Alumni Association, Inc. will honor graduates who are 80 years old and older during the organization’s 30th Annual Alumni Awards Banquet on Friday, September 8. Over 100 alumni in this age category have been invited to this event. Alumni receiving special awards are: Leola W. Morgan, class of 1946 of Elizabeth City, NC, who will receive the Community Service Award Edna Randolph, class of 1945 of Baltimore, MD, who will receive the Alumni Affairs Award and William Stanton, III, class of 1944 of Highpoint, NC, who will receive the Education Award. Each of these honorees remains active with the university as well as the chapters in their local areas. The National Alumni Association will present the Viking Spirit and Viking Image awards to two undisclosed, unsuspecting individuals. The Viking Spirit Award is given to"unsung" alum, while the Viking Image Award is presented to an individual who is not a graduate of ECSU, but has demonstrated untiring and generous support to the university. Over 250 members are expected to be in attendance for this monumental event. The evening will begin at 6 p.m. at the K.E. White Graduate Center, 1704 Weeksville Road, Elizabeth City, NC.
