ECSU 2020 Day of Giving May 29
It’s Day of Giving season and Elizabeth City State University is holding the fourth annual event on Friday, May 29.The theme this year is Reimagine Roebuck, putting the focus on the renovation of the university’s football field.
Donor contributions will help ECSU meet the costs to have a topographical survey, remove the current surface, soil fill, update the irrigation system, and provide crown, sod and over-seed. Gifts will also help ECSU establish a regular maintenance schedule to include aeration and seeding to keep the field safe, healthy, and attractive for this upcoming season and future seasons, according to Anita Walton, vice chancellor for university advancement.
“Our Viking family and friends are rising to the occasion to give in a big way and we appreciate it tremendously,” said Ms. Walton. “On May 29, we hope to see many more of you come out and support Reimagine Roebuck and the Day of Giving.”
Giving that supports Reimagine Roebuck will help to supply Vikings with a playing field that enhances the performance and morale of student athletes and fan engagement.
Giving began in April with the launch of the Reimagine Roebuck campaign. While the Viking field is a big focus this year, Ms. Walton says she would like to remind donors that, as always, they are invited to designate their giving to a specific area such as scholarships and research.
It is also important, added Ms. Walton, for a university to have a large number of donors, regardless of the dollar amount. The more donors, the more funding becomes available.
“Alumni giving and engagement are important,” she said. “When potential funders see that an institution’s alumni are supportive of their alma mater, it adds credence to the institution and the academic programs and services it offers. Our top priority for the 2020 Day of Giving is Reimagine Roebuck however, your participation is very important. We want donors to give to initiatives they are most passionate about or that excites them the most.”
With broad support from alumni and supporters, ECSU is committed to its role as a leading regional community partner for many years to come.

Together, we can make a difference. ”
