Dr. Ephraim Gwebu has announced that the ECSU Maximizing Access to Research Careers Undergraduate Students Training in Academic Research (E-MARC U*STAR) Program has eight new trainees. E-MARC U*STAR, which is funded by the National Institutes of Health, is a program designed to increase acceptance rates of its participants and non-participants into research intensive institutions by increasing students’ competitiveness through rigorous academic pursuits and summer research internships as preparation for research careers. This summer five of the eight E-MARC Trainees are at Loma Linda (CA), University of Texas (San Antonio), Wright University (Ohio), Vanderbilt University (TN) and Old Dominion University (VA). They are expected to present their research at the Annual Biomedical Research Training Conference for Minority Students in Seattle, Washington this November.
