On the 50th anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., in Memphis, Tennessee, The Daily Advance features a story about the silent march in Elizabeth City in 1968 to mourn the Civil Rights leader’s death. The march was organized, in part, by the then Elizabeth City State College president, Walter N. Ridley, and student government leaders.
