Business students earn scholarships at ECSU

The Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics announces seven students at Elizabeth City State University who were selected for scholarships:
Tiffany Brown, a senior from Virginia Beach, Va., and Shaun Harrell, a senior from Hertford, N.C., were selected for the Southern Bank Scholarship. Southern Bank awards academic and need based scholarships. The scholarship is valued at $500 per student.
Christopher Burnette a senior from Roanoke, Rapids, N.C., and Carol Lane, a junior from Edenton, N.C., earned the NC CPA Foundation Scholarship – Albemarle Association of CPAs.
Tichelle Harris, a senior from Elizabeth City, N.C., and Vicky Leary, a December 2010 graduate from Hertford, N.C., earned the NC State Board of CPA Examiners Scholarship Coupon. The coupon is used to assist students in the cost of preparing for CPA exam. The North Carolina State Board of Certified Public Accountant Examiners ("the Board") is an occupational licensing board that grants certificates of qualification as certified public accountants (CPAs) to those individuals who meet the legal requirements.
Matravia Seymore, a junior from Elizabeth City, N.C. won the Richard L. Reid Scholarship. The scholarship is valued at $250.
Dr. Hilton Barrett said the students are selected based on their grade point average, scholarship and involvement in events and activities within the Walter R. Davis School of Business and Economics. The school offers B.S. degrees in accounting and business administration with concentrations in management, marketing, management information systems, economics and finance.
