Bertie County Alumni Chapter member named Ms. Alumni 2015

The National Alumni Association for Elizabeth City State University congratulates Andrea Canada (’94) as Ms. Alumni 2015. The NAA held the annual Mr./Ms. Alumni Coronation on October 23, at the Kermit E. White Graduate and Continuing Education Center. Ms. Andrea Canada, a third grade teacher at Bearfield Primary School in Ahoskie, N.C., is a member of the Bertie County Alumni Chapter. The first runner up was Trisha Walton (’96), an assistant principal at Central Middle School in Gatesville, N.C., and a member of the Elizabeth City Area Alumni Chapter. The attendants included Sybil Stanley Covington (’81), a member of the Washington D. C. Metro Alumni Chapter and Mikel Brabham, (’01) a member of the Robert Harvey Tri-State Chapter. The royal court raised $40,000 that supports ECSU student recruitment initiatives and university scholarships. NAA President Dr. Jeanette Evans said the goal for next year is to have a representative from each of the NAA’s 30 chapters and a contest fundraising goal of $200,000. The contest is the NAA’s major fundraiser that supports university scholarships and student recruitment.
