ECSU Baseball Coach Terrance Whittle shares tips on America’s game-baseball with area youths. This years’ baseball camp drew 27 youths from Pasquotank County to South Park Sports Complex. ECSU and the local Department of Parks and Recreation collaborated to hold the camp. ECSU provided instructors for the camp that lasted from June 24 – June 27 for youths who range in age from seven to 15. The camp is a comprehensive skills camp which focuses on the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, catching, base running and team play. The camp also included daily lessons which focused on fair play and character development. The Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County South Park Sports Complex, which opened in 2011 just a few blocks away from the university, offers five lighted youth fields for individual, team and league play. Managed by Elizabeth City-Pasquotank County Parks and Recreation, the complex can accommodate up to 30 teams at a time for baseball (12 years and under) and softball (18 years and under) games and tournaments.
