Anita Walton Named ECSU’s Vice Chancellor of University Advancement
Anita Walton has been named Elizabeth City State University’s new Vice Chancellor of University Advancement. Ms. Walton will start her position at ECSU March 2.
Ms. Walton comes to ECSU with 25 years of higher education administrative experience. Her background includes advancement, student affairs, diversity, and talent management.
“We are excited to have Anita Walton join the Viking family. She brings with her years of valuable experience and the promise of a strong future for ECSU’s Office of University Advancement,” said Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon.
Ms. Walton has most recently worked as the Senior Director of Diversity and Talent Management for the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, or CASE.
In her role at CASE, she provided leadership in developing, communicating, and executing a comprehensive strategy to recruit talent. She provided leadership and counsel for the new Historically Black Colleges and Universities initiative and exploration to create a Center for Minority Serving Institution Advancement.
Prior to her work at CASE, Ms. Walton was the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at North Carolina Central University. She had also held the position of Director of Alumni Relations and Executive Director at NCCU.
Ms. Walton holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from UNC Chapel Hill and a Master of Education in Higher Education from North Carolina State University.
