A Photographic Look Back at ECSU’s Spring 2019 Semester

The spring 2019 semester began with a new chancellor, Dr. Karrie Dixon, and ended with her presiding over the commencement ceremony of 146 graduates. On Saturday, May 11, the Vaughan Center was jammed packed with students, family, friends, and ECSU faculty and staff.
Over the course of the 2019 spring semester, the hard work of students and alumni at Elizabeth City State University have made a big difference in their lives, and the lives of people around them. Vikings are forever working to change the world.
We’ve taken a sampling of photos from the past semester to remind you of just how amazing the Viking family is, and the contributions they make on campus, and off.
This small selection of photos is by no means the entire story, but it does give you a glimpse into Viking life. You can also enjoy a few more photos on our Flickr account.
Enjoy!

- Elementary Education graduate Britney Spence was named the spring 2019 Bearer of the Mace. Britney will go on to teach elementary school in the Elizabeth City area.
- Robert Boone was named as one of this year’s UNC System Presidential Scholars. Robert will serve as an intern in UNC System Interim President William Roper’s office beginning in July.
- Each semester ECSU sees a new crop of U.S. Army officers commissioned before graduation. This year four students were commissioned as officers. They are, left to right, 2nd Lt. Dara Drury, 2nd Lt. Isaiah Graves, 2nd. Lt. Vance Maxey, and 2nd Lt. Brandon Sparrow. They are pictured with Maj. Gen. (retired) Sanford E. Holman, far left, and ECSU Chancellor Karrie Dixon.
