Dr. Trina Gregory Joins the AASCU Emerging Leaders Program 2022 Cohort
Dr. Trina L. Gregory, ECSU’s Distance Education Student Support Services Coordinator and State Authorization Compliance Officer, will participate in the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) in 2022.
ELP helps prepare the next generation of higher education administrators to be effective leaders, viewing each decision they make through a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens. The overall goal of AASCU’S ELP is to further equitable student success at each participant’s higher education institution.
“AASCU has a legacy of producing strong leaders at the helm of the nation’s higher education institutions,” says Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon. “Other campus administrators – including myself – have completed programs through AASCU which focuses on diversifying and growing the skilled leadership pipeline in our higher education system, which in turn, leads to access and opportunities for our students.”
“I am excited for this wonderful opportunity with AASCU’s ELP which will enhance my leadership skills,” says Dr. Trina Gregory. “I want to personally thank Chancellor Dixon for nominating me to participate in the program and for being my mentor. As the Staff Senate Chair, it’s important for ECSU staff to have opportunities such as this one, and I’m working to ensure that professional development for all staff becomes a priority at our institution.”
Dr. Gregory will participate in sessions that will include theoretical knowledge, practical application, and case study discussions. The 2022 cohort will practice leadership, project and change management, and team building skills in order to gain the critical skills needed for leading institutional change. In addition, each ELP participate will lead an on-campus project or initiative to demonstrate and strengthen their leadership skills while receiving mentorship from a current campus leader.
AASCU’s 2022 ELP program will cover a number of topic areas including Title IX, finance and administration, enrollment management, student affairs, and managing staff and faculty. Visit the AASCU Emerging Leaders Program to learn more.
