Spring Semester Delayed: Returning to Campus Later in January

ECSU is committed to protecting every Viking as they live, work, and learn in our community.  The university continues to follow COVID-19 recommendations from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS).

The Omicron variant is currently sweeping across the United States, and to help safeguard the health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff, ECSU is delaying the start of the spring 2022 semester until later in January.  Experts from NCDHHS and within the UNC System predict the surge in Omicron cases will decline rapidly.  Therefore, based upon that guidance, there will be a staggered return to campus following the New Year’s holiday.

Unfortunately, it looks like COVID will be with us for quite a while.  Please get vaccinated and boosted – we cannot stress this enough.  A COVID vaccination protects you AND your friends and family.  Once vaccinated, you are less likely to catch the virus (and, therefore, cannot spread it to others), or become seriously ill.  Millions of people in the U.S. have received COVID-19 vaccines, which have undergone intensive safety monitoring.

Visit the vaccination clinic on the ECSU campus in the K.E. White Graduate Center.  The clinic is open every Wednesday and Thursday from Noon to 7:00P.M. and no appointments are necessary – walk-ins only.  The vaccines.gov website is also a good resource for clinics across the state.
