Chancellor Honors Faculty and Staff with 25-plus years of Service

On Oct. 7, Elizabeth City State University Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon honored 29 faculty and staff who have been with the institution for 25 or more years.
Honored during a morning reception in the lobby of the Thorpe Administrative Building with masks and social distancing in place, Chancellor Dixon recognized their service to ECSU with a light breakfast.
“These faculty and staff members have been dedicated to ECSU for a quarter century or more. Their work here has made it possible for countless students to earn an education and leave ECSU with degrees,” said Chancellor Dixon. “Whether these men and women are working behind the scenes or in the classroom, they have served ECSU with excellence and for that we owe them our gratitude.”
The employees with 25 or more years of service to ECSU honored earlier this month are:
Gwendolyn Overton, university program associate, 25 years ; Scott Bradshaw, professor, 25 years; Michael Winrow, associate professor, 25 years; Krishna Kulkarni, professor, 25 years; Akbar Eslami, professor, 25 years; Kenya Hinton, technology support technician, 25 years; Kimberley Stevenson, director of distance and continuing education, 26 years; Wilhelmina Godfrey, student services specialist, 26 years; Sharnita Wilson, director of internal audit, 26 years; Gary Harmon, professor, 27 years; Derrick Wilkins, vice chancellor/chief of staff, 27 years; Robert McMahon, facility maintenance supervisor, 27 years; Melody Brackett, associate professor, 28 years; Juanita Midgette Spence, director of library services, 28 years; Travis Griffin, building and environment tech, 29 years; Doris Greene, building and environmental tech, 29 years; Calvin Welch, building and environmental tech, 32 years; Larry Lister, building and environmental tech, 32 years; Chiquita Mitchell, library technician, 32 years; Ngozi Oriaku, professor, 32 years; Arthur Morris, vehicle equipment operator, 32 years; Jharna Sengupta, professor, 33 years; Cynthia Williams, student services specialist, 33 years; Joyce Shaw, program associate, 35 years; Valerie Price, university program associate, 35 years; Ebere Oriaku, professor, 35 years; Lora Ann Barclift, executive assistant, 36 years; Melvona Griffin, administrative support specialist, 36 years; Dipendra Sengupta, professor, 36 years.
Chancellor Dixon will also host two additional events to honor ECSU faculty and staff. The first event will take place in the Thorpe lobby on Oct. 27, 9-10 a.m. The second event will also take place in the Thorpe lobby on Nov. 24, 10-11 a.m.
