Students Honored During 2019 Viking Spirit Awards

The Elizabeth City State University Student Government Association in collaboration with the Division of Student Affairs hosted the 2019 Viking Spirit Awards on Friday, April 5 at the Fine Arts Center. The Viking Spirit Awards recognizes outstanding individual students, clubs and organization, faculty and staff who demonstrate excellence in leadership, scholarship and service and have made a significant stride in the Viking community.

There were more than 70 nominations for 16 categories and the following awards were presented to students:

Freshmen Viking Achievement – Tyran Loving
Sophomore Viking Achievement – Tykira Beasley
Senior Viking Achievement – Trianna Moore
Emerging Leader – Erica Acheampomaa & Gabrielle Clark
Sorority Woman of the Year – Tia Broome, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
Fraternity Man of the Year – Fisher McInville, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
Students First Faculty & Staff Award
Bridgett Elliot, Division of Student Success
Tiffany Hinton, Director of Community Standards
Residential Life
Resident Assistant of the Year – DeAirrius Payne
Rookie of the Year – Sanda Oo
Community Standards Civility Award – Briana Rountree
