Board of Trustees unanimously support Connect NC Bond referendum
In a special meeting of the Elizabeth City State University Board of Trustees, the board voted unanimously to support the Connect NC Bond referendum.
On Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2016, the board met at the K.E. White Center on the campus of ECSU to discuss and adopt a resolution to endorse the $2 billion bond referendum for statewide infrastructure that will appear on the March 15 ballot.
The bond, a bipartisan effort, includes projects across 77 of the state’s 100 counties with much of the funding going to support projects across the UNC System and community colleges.
ECSU’s share of the bond is $13 million and will fund renovations of the G.R. Little Library and Moore Hall.
More than $25 million will fund new construction, repairs and renovations for regional community colleges including College of the Albemarle. More than $75 million of the bond will be invested in North Carolina’s state parks, including the Dismal Swamp State Park.
No tax increases will be required to complete the projects on the Connect NC Bond Program.
