Ewers named Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs

January 06, 2005 Chancellor Mickey L. Burnim is pleased to announce that Dr. Bonita T. Ewers will serve as Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at ECSU effective February 1, 2005, replacing Dr. Carolyn Mahoney who has accepted the presidency at Lincoln University in Missouri. Dr. Ewers has served as ECSU Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs-Administration since fall 2002. Prior to joining ECSU in 2002, Dr. Ewers served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Special Assistant to the President at Central State University in Wilberforce, OH. Additionally, she has held teaching and administrative leadership positions in North Carolina at Johnson C. Smith University and Barber-Scotia College, having served as a professor, assistant vice president, interim dean, and as director of a variety of programs. Dr. Ewers earned a bachelor’s degree from Wilberforce University (Ohio), a master’s from Antioch College (Ohio), and a doctorate from the University of Massachusetts.
