HUD officials present over $151,000 to Community Development Program

February 07, 2006 Representatives from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) presented $151,000 in grants to the Community Development Program at Elizabeth City State University February 7, at the K.E. White Graduate Center. The funding from HUD arrives in support of services and programs currently provided by the ECSU Community Development Program. Burnim Elizabeth City State University Community Development Program Director Morris Autry Janet Bradbury, Eastern Regional Field Representative for U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole Betty Jo Shepheard, Eastern Regional Field Representative for representing U.S. Senator Richard Burr Reuben Clayton, Regional District Director for U.S. Congressman Butterfield James Sutton, FHEO Director for HUD Region IV Patricia Hoban-Moore, Deputy Regional Director for HUD Region IV The Community Development Program at ECSU currently serves Pasquotank, Perquimans, Camden, Currituck, Gates, and Chowan counties. Currently, a number of programs are funded by the Comprehensive Housing Counseling Grants, Predatory Lending Counseling Grants and Fair Housing Initiative Program grants. These programs provide residents a series of free seminars, workshops and housing counseling services. Last year, approximately 500 northeastern North Carolina residents either attended those workshops or received assistance from the Community Development Program.
