Three Vikings are conference stand outs

September 03, 2006 Three members of the Elizabeth City State University football team have received Player of the Week honors as announced by the CIAA Office of Public Relations. Seniors Ronnie McClary, Dwight Richardson and Kevin Dodson have been recognized for their outstanding performances in the Vikings’ season opening shutout of Livingstone College on Saturday night in Salisbury, NC. McClary, a native of Goldsboro, NC was named Offensive Lineman of the Week by leading an offensive unit that accumulated 362 yards of total offense (246 passing, 116 rushing) while allowing no sacks. Richardson, the Defensive Back of the Week who hails from Houston, TX, kept the Blue Bear secondary at bay with 4 tackles (3 solo, 1 assisted) and he returned an interception for 6 yards. Dodson, who like McClary was a 2006 Pre-Season All-CIAA selection, has earned the third Specialty Player of the Week honor of his career. Against Livingstone Dodson punted four times for 160 yards including a 49 yarder which landed inside the 20-yard line, connected on 20-yard field goal and was 3-for-3 in the extra point category.
