Two are CIAA standouts

October 03, 2006Two members of the Elizabeth City State University volleyball team have received CIAA weekly honors as released from the conference office Tuesday afternoon. Senior outside hitter Tanika Hudgins has been named CIAA Player of the Week while freshman setter Ashley Tarasoff has been tapped as the CIAA Rookie of the Week. Hudgins, member of the 2006 Pre-Season All-CIAA Volleyball team, collected 23 kills, 18 digs, a service ace and an assist in the Lady Vikings’ win over Virginia State last week. Ashley Tarasoff garners her second Rookie of the Week honor of 2006 as last week against the Lady Trojans she paced the Lady Viking offense with 30 assists and 6 service aces. The Lady Vikings are currently in second palce in the CIAA East with a 4-1 mark and an overall record of 10-8. The Lady Vikings will return to action this week on the road with matches at Bowie State on Thursday and the University of the District of Columbia on Friday.
