Trahan, Owens top CIAA weekly honors again

HAMPTON, VA- Elizabeth City State University’s Celeste Trahan and head coach Tara Owens have topped the CIAA weekly honors for the second time this season. Celeste Trahan has been named CIAA women’s Player of the Week for the seventh time in her storied career. In the Lady Vikings’ 55-50 win over Johnson C. Smith Saturday night in Elizabeth City the junior All-American had a career high 7 blocks en route to collecting her 46th career double-double with 25 points and 15 rebounds. She tops the CIAA in scoring, is tied for first in blocks and ranks second in rebounding. Third year head coach Tara Owens has been tapped as the Coach of the Week after guiding ECSU six straight wins and are a perfect 4-0 in CIAA play. The Lady Viking (6-2 overall) will return to action on December 29-30, 2006 at the Heritage Bank Classic hosted by Clayton State University in Morrow, Ga.
