Vikings’ Pigford named CIAA Player of the Week

Hampton VA- C.J. Pigford has been named the CIAA Men’s Player of the Week as released by the conference office Monday afternoon. In the Vikings’ game against Johnson C. Smith on Saturday evening, Pigford earned his fifth double-double of the year of 25 points and 12 rebounds along with 4 blocks, an assist and 2 steals. His point and rebound totals were game highs in the contest against the Golden Bulls and while his 12 boards matched his career high in a Viking uniform. He is averaging a double-double of 19.5 points and 10.3 rebounds which ranks sixth and third in the CIAA, respectively. He also ranks third in the conference in blocks per game with an average of 2.25 per outing. The Vikings (4-4, CIAA 3-1) will return to action December 30-31, 2006 at a tournament hosted by Glenville State College in Glenville, WV.
