ECSU Bowling finishes first at Eastern Division meet

The Elizabeth City State University bowling team topped all contenders at the first Eastern Division Meet of the 2008-09 season this past weekend on the ECSU campus. At the three day event as a team the Lady Vikings swept all of their matches sans a baker match which they dropped to Bowie State University. Overall ECSU posted a 14-1 record against the East Division which includes Bowie State, Saint Paul’s, Virginia Union and Virginia State. Lincoln University was also a participant in the weekend’s events as a warm up for when they join the CIAA as full-fledged member for the 2009-2010 season. Individually Shanice Watkins led the Lady Vikings with a weekend total pin count (and Meet high) of 1,921, an average of 192.1 over 10 games. Tiffany Johnson and Jessica Dunn rounded out the top three performers for ECSU with totals of 1,667 and 1,570, respectively. As a team the Lady Vikings smashed a Meet best 8,921 pins. Kimberly Bouyer of Bowie State University boasted the best average of the meet at 202.2. The Lady Vikings (14-1) will return to action when they travel to Millsboro, DE for the Lady Hawk Classic hosted by the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore November 21-23.
