Bowling team captures 2008-2009 Eastern Division Championship

March 12, 2009 Â ELIZABETH CITY, NC- The Elizabeth City State University bowling team has captured the 2008-2009 Eastern Division Championship. Â This marks the second time in school history that ECSU won the Eastern Division crown in the sport of bowling, which was first sponsored by the CIAA in 2001. The Lady Vikings last won the East Title in 2003. Â The Lady Vikings posted division bests (in CIAA meets) of 81 team points and 19 baker game points to earn the 2008-09 regular season title for the East. Additionally ECSU boasted the second best overall record (percentage wise 53-32-.623%) of any CIAA school behind defending conference champion Fayetteville State, who captured the Western Division Title for this season. Â This season the Lady Vikings were 53-32 overall with a 27-9 record in head-to-head competition in the CIAA and a 19-14 over Baker Game mark.
