The Music Department at Elizabeth City State University announces P.O.I.S.O.N. Drum Line, the percussion section of the Marching Sound of Class, won the Big Apple Classic HBCU Drumline Competition, held at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York on December 15. This section of the band includes 18 students who competed against drum lines from Lincoln and Cheyney Universities. The criteria of selection was based on five performance categories: difficulty, creativity, showmanship, execution, and general effect. The drum line performed an exciting five-minute show that drew crowd applause and a standing ovation. These percussionists won a trophy and a$1,000 prize.
