UNC Board of Governors announces next chancellor of ECSU

On September 4, the University of North Carolina Board of Governors will announce the new chancellor for Elizabeth City State University. The announcement will follow a special meeting of the UNC Board of Governors in Cary, N.C.
Follow the Board of Governor’s meeting, via Internet video stream: http://bcove.me/lfxoxf1p. The meeting begins at approximately 11 a.m., but the announcement of the new chancellor is scheduled to take place at the conclusion of their meeting.
The university will hold a welcome reception for the chancellor-elect on September 9th at 1:30 p.m. in the Mickey L. Burnim Fine Arts Center. Representatives from the ECSU Board of Trustees will be present as well as administrators, faculty, staff, and students.
Elizabeth City State University will hold a press conference from 2:30 p.m. – 3 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9, in room #114A of the Kermit E. White Graduate and Continuing Education Center so the media can address the new chief executive officer. The selection of a new chancellor resulted from a thorough search process. The Hollins Group, a global retained executive search and professional services firm, provided a slate of candidates for the position of chancellor. Thereafter, a search committee comprised of trustees, the faculty, staff, alumni and members of the community participated in a a search that began in January of 2014. The ECSU Board of Trustees provided three prospective candidates for the position. University of North Carolina President Tom Ross reviewed the candidates and made a recommendation to the UNC Board of Governors.
