Three-day Camp Aspire Aims to Empower Girls
Girl power once again comes to the campus of Elizabeth City State University as Camp Aspire: 2016 Girls Leadership Workshop takes place June 28-30.
ECSU’s radio and television stations, WRVS-FM 89.9 and W18BB-TV have partnered with C.H.A.N.G.E. Enterprises Inc., to present Camp Aspire to 6th and 7th grade girls. The three-day camp provides a unique opportunity for girls to explore the ideas and concepts of leadership, team building, and self-empowerment.
Girls who attend Camp Aspire will participate in innovative activities and will share their hopes and dreams with their peers. They will learn to set and achieve goals, and work to build their self-esteem, confidence, and leadership skills.
The camp is staffed by facilitators and volunteers whose aim is to encourage discussion and who tailor the program activities to accommodate various learning styles. Through this three-day event, the girls are prepared to progress in their communities.
The camp runs each day from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is a $20 fee and registration is open until filled. For more information contact Melba Smith at mybrown@ecsu.edu or 252-335-3985.
