New ECSU flag to be Unveiled July 19th
A new flag will fly over the campus of Elizabeth City State University and on July 19th the flag and its new Viking design will be presented during the ribbon cutting of the new main entrance located at the Gilchrist Education and Psychology Complex.
The new main entrance will feature a security station and is located at a stoplight, offering safer access to the campus. The new flag will fly over the entrance. During the ceremony, there will be remarks from Chancellor Conway. The event happens at 10 a.m.
The idea for the flag came as a part of an initiative to redefine the overall ECSU experience. The initiatives were developed by a team of staff and faculty members with the goal of increasing community engagement and awareness by involving the ECSU community and the public at large. Working with faculty, students, staff, and alumni the team sought to design a flag. The flag will be raised on a newly erected pole.
Other projects from the team include campus beautification, landscaping, and a community garden. The team also created the Viking Volunteer Corps in an effort to engage the campus community in university and surrounding community events.
