Chancellor’s Color Run Takes Off Sept. 10
Whether you are a dedicated runner or just dedicated to family fun, keep Sept. 10 on your calendar open for the Elizabeth City State University Chancellor’s Color Run, a 5k/one-mile fun run, for everyone.
The event is designed for all ages, shapes, sizes and those who need handicap access to enjoy and have fun. It all happens at Roebuck Stadium and will feature bounce houses and children’s activities as well as vendors and health and wellness activities. On Friday evening before the big day, you can enjoy the same festive offerings while registering for the race.
The 5K and fun run features color stations. As runners pass through the stations they are showered with colored powder. By the end of the race participants have become virtual rainbow runners. And while you may want to capture the moment in a photograph, you don’t have to worry about taking all that color home. The Elizabeth City Fire Department will be on hand to hose you down.
The Chancellor’s Color Run is a fundraiser. The proceeds of the race benefit ECSU scholarships. Early-bird registration is $25 and on-site registration is $35. The fee includes a T-shirt. You can register online by going to the website its-go-time.com, and clicking on the upcoming events tab.
The Friday night pre-race festivities happen at Roebuck Stadium from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., and are free and open to the entire community. On Saturday, Sept. 10 race check-in is 7 a.m. The race kicks off at 8 a.m.
And remember, the fun doesn’t end at the finish line. There will be plenty of activities for the entire family throughout the morning until noon.
